There’s no shame in taking the job that pays your bills. Not all of us get the luxury of spending months searching for a job. The hard part is finding the in-between. Looking for a full-time job can be a full-time job. But the job paying your bills can take so much of your time that you don’t have time to apply or interview. Right before college, I was working at Starbucks. I have a very specific memory I think back to a lot. I was changing the coffee filter, and I remember thinking... “This can’t be it. This can’t be a job that I do for years.” |
It was in that moment I knew I had to work really hard in college. I quit Starbucks the same week I started college in 2021. The job wasn’t bad. I just wanted to give college my all and do more. Throughout college, I was terrified I would end up back at Starbucks. It felt like it was still a possibility, even if it was plan Z. Thankfully, I didn’t have to go back.
